Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro Review: Design and Display
At first glance, the Mi Band 7 Pro resembles last year’s launched Redmi Band Pro. This year, however, Xiaomi bids farewell to the pill-shaped design, as the Mi Band 7 Pro features a larger screen.

Left: Mi Band 7 Pro
The Xiaomi Mi Band 7 had a narrow screen, but the Mi Band 7 Pro boasts a 1.64-inch display with a resolution of 280 x 456 pixels, a peak brightness of 500 nits, and 2.5D curved glass. The screen offers 40% more horizontal space compared to the Mi Band 7, allowing you to read slightly more information from your smartwatch.
Like the Mi Band 7, the Smart Band 7 Pro also features an always-on mode and a smart function that automatically adjusts brightness.
Similar to the Mi Band 7, you can personalise the Smart Band 7 Pro strap by attaching a different one. We offer a wide selection of Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro straps that are easy to replace.
Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro Review: Battery
The Xiaomi Smart (Mi) Band 7 Pro lasts about 3 days with the always-on display active, continuous heart rate, sleep, and SpO2 monitoring enabled, and a daily workout using GPS. It takes approximately 1.5 hours to recharge to 100%.
Xiaomi claims the smartwatch lasts 12 days, which is a bit exaggerated. It’s possible, but only if you use the battery very sparingly. Turning off all tracking and always-on display functions might allow the Mi Band 7 Pro to last 12 days.
Disabling the always-on display function immediately improves battery life. Turning off only the always-on display can extend battery life by 2 to 3 days. Without the always-on function, your Mi Band 7 Pro screen activates when you raise your wrist.
Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro Review: Sensors and Features
It’s important for your health and fitness tracker to measure daily activities. To achieve this, the Mi Band 7 Pro includes several handy sensors and features, such as the SpO2 monitor, heart rate monitor, and over 100 sport modes.
Mi Fitness App
Previously, the Mi Band 7 could connect to the Zepp Life app, but the Mi Band 7 Pro no longer supports this. The Mi Band 7 Pro works exclusively with the Mi Fitness app.
In the Mi Fitness app, you’ll find your daily health statistics, such as heart rate, fitness, and sleep, displayed in detail. You can also easily sync data with Strava and Apple Health.
Additionally, the Mi Fitness app lets you engage in a competitive challenge with friends by setting up daily workouts against each other. You can see who’s taken the most steps or burned the most calories, motivating each other to do more.
Health and Fitness Tracking Features
The Xiaomi Smart (Mi) Band 7 Pro offers 117 sport modes with various indoor and outdoor activities. The standard health tracking features are present, including 24/7 heart rate monitoring and SpO2 monitoring. There are no new features compared to the Mi Band 7.
Sleep Monitoring
Sleep monitoring is a key part of health tracking, and the Xiaomi Smart (Mi) Band 7 Pro can do this. However, the sleep monitoring on the Mi Band 7 Pro doesn’t always perform well in tests. For accurate sleep monitoring, consider looking at Fitbit or Garmin smartwatches.
Built-in GPS
The built-in GPS is the biggest upgrade for the Mi Band 7 Pro. The new dual-band GNSS sensor supports GPS, QZSS, BeiDou, Galileo, and GLONASS positioning. Mi Band 7 users no longer need to carry their phone to view routes or statistics while running or walking—they can now check them directly on the Mi Band 7 Pro.
NFC
There’s something notable about the NFC chip in the Mi Band 7 Pro. The NFC chip is only available on Xiaomi Smart (Mi) Band 7 Pro models in China. Outside China, it’s not possible to use the NFC chip.
This is disappointing, as you can’t make contactless payments with this smartwatch. For many, this will be a dealbreaker, likely deterring them from purchasing it.
Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro Review: Price and Availability
There are two variants of the Xiaomi Smart (Mi) Band 7 Pro: a Chinese version and a global version. The global version is available in the Netherlands from £84.95.
Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro Review in Brief
To refresh your memory, here are the key pros and cons.
✔️ Improved user interface
✔️ Larger screen shows more information
✔️ Stylish design
✔️ Enhanced built-in GPS
✔️ Affordable price
❌ Built-in GPS is a battery drain
❌ No NFC chip for models outside China
❌ Functionality is identical to the Xiaomi Mi Band 7
❌ Lags with incoming notifications
❌ Mi Fitness app displays data more concisely than the Zepp Life app
❌ No buttons
Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro Review: Conclusion
The Mi Band 7 Pro feels quite basic for a “Pro” smartwatch. Aside from a larger screen and improved built-in GPS, there’s no compelling feature that makes you feel you own a “Pro” device.
Nevertheless, the Mi Band 7 Pro is a good purchase for its price. Available from £84.95, it offers a solid basic fitness tracker that resembles a premium smartwatch.
Unsure between the Mi Band 7 and the Mi Band 7 Pro?
Ask yourself: do you enjoy not having to pull out your phone during sports for fitness data or routes? If so, choose the Mi Band 7 Pro over the Mi Band 7.
