Processor, RAM & Performance

Both the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active and Active 2 run on the Exynos 9110 (10nm) chipset, powered by a 1.15GHz Dual-Core CPU. The Active 2, however, includes 1.5 GB RAM, while the original Active has just 768 MB, resulting in better multitasking on the newer model.

Battery Life

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 has a 47% larger battery than the original Active (340mAh vs 230mAh). Both models support wireless charging using the included Qi-compatible charger.

Software & Functionality

Both models run Samsung’s own Tizen OS 4.0. This software is consistent across Samsung smartwatches, except for the Galaxy Watch 4 series which now runs Google’s Wear OS. As a result, functionality between the Active and Active 2 is mostly identical.

eSIM & VO2Max on Active 2

The Active 2 supports eSIM, enabling phone calls and data connectivity directly from the watch. It also includes VO2Max tracking, which measures oxygen consumption during exercise — a great indicator of fitness levels.

Durability

Both watches are IP68 rated and water-resistant up to 50m. They also comply with the MIL-STD-810G military standard.

The Galaxy Watch Active features Corning Gorilla Glass 3, while the Active 2 has the more robust Gorilla Glass DX+, offering better scratch and impact resistance while maintaining clarity and touch sensitivity.

Bluetooth Versions

The Galaxy Watch Active uses Bluetooth 4.2, while the Active 2 features Bluetooth 5.0. This upgrade means faster data transfer over longer distances (up to 4x further with 8x more data capacity).
