We’ve been waiting for a successor to the Fitbit Sense, and it’s finally arriving in August. What will the Fitbit Sense 2 look like? How much will it cost? This blog answers these questions and more.
Design
Thanks to leaked renders from OnLeaks, we can get a good idea of the Fitbit Sense 2’s appearance. As expected, it resembles its predecessor with a recognizable rounded square case. The straps also seem unchanged.
Leaked renders of the Fitbit Sense 2: Platinum, Graphite, and Gold.
A key change is the physical button on the side, used to control smartwatch functions. Its design has evolved, appearing more prominent with a slight protrusion, making it easier to use. Microphones are now next to the button.
Like the Sense, the Fitbit Sense 2 will come in three colours: black, gold, and silver, likely named ‘Graphite’, ‘Gold’, and ‘Platinum’ by Fitbit. Straps include black, warm white/pink, and white.
The renders don’t show the back, but earlier leaked photos (later in the blog) reveal the sensors match the Fitbit Sense. The stainless steel frame looks generally slimmer.
Display
The Fitbit Sense 2 will likely feature a 336 x 336 pixel display, the same as the original Sense and Versa 3, suggesting a similar size.
A now-deleted video showed applying a screen protector to the Versa 4 or Sense 2 without distinguishing between them, indicating the screen and dimensions may be identical.
Specs & Sensors – Will There Be a Blood Pressure Monitor?
The Sense was known as Fitbit’s most advanced model. Whether the Sense 2 retains this title is uncertain. It introduced a heart rate monitor, stress monitor, and skin temperature sensor to Fitbit. New features are expected, but what might be added?
In 2021, Fitbit conducted a public study using the heart rate monitor to estimate blood pressure. There’s no confirmation of a blood pressure monitor for the Sense 2, but it’s clear the possibility has been explored.
Leaked photos of the Sense 2 show no new sensors on the back.
The ECG (heart rate monitor) on the Fitbit Sense is cumbersome, with results only visible as a .pdf in the Fitbit app. We hope the Fitbit Sense 2 improves this experience.
We expect the Fitbit Sense 2, like the Sense, to feature built-in GPS, allowing tracking without a phone during walks, runs, or cycling, monitoring distance and speed easily.
Difference Between Fitbit Sense 2 and Fitbit Versa 4
The Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 were too similar, with the Sense’s higher price offering few new sensors. Fitbit aims to add new features to both watches, so we’re curious about the differences between the Sense 2 and Versa 4.
Rumours suggest the Fitbit Versa 4 will run Google’s Wear OS. If true, the Fitbit Sense 2 likely will too, especially after Google’s acquisition of Fitbit. Whether Fitbit is ready for this shift remains unclear.
Fitbit Sense 2 Release Date
When will the Fitbit Sense 2 launch? Almost certainly late August 2022. The exact date isn’t set but will be confirmed soon. The Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4 are expected to launch together, possibly with the Fitbit Inspire 3.
Fitbit Sense 2 Price
The price of the Fitbit Sense 2 hasn’t been announced, but it’s expected to range between £250 and £350. This is higher than the anticipated Versa 4 price, likely around £200.
Conclusion
Several details about the Fitbit Sense 2 have leaked, including the new design, available colours, and resolution. However, much remains unclear. We’ll need to wait for the official announcement for exact specifications.
