Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Review
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 is finally here. The design of the Galaxy Watch 7 has not changed much since last year, but there's several new health features to look at. We'll describe all the new aspects in detail in this review of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.

Let's start with the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. This way you'll be able to see all if it's details and features in one go. The big difference we can see in this table in comparison to the Galaxy Watch 6 is the battery life. The battery life has increased because of a more efficient processor, which also gives the watch a speed boost.

Galaxy Watch 7 review: New processor & battery life
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 has gotten a new processor, the Exynos W1000. This chip ensures a major improvement in battery life and speed. According to internal tests by Samsung apps open up to 2.7x as fast.
The Watch 7 certainly feels a lot faster when handling it, the new processor making the interface a lot smoother in use. All in all the user experience has improved, with both animations and opening apps being faster than before.
The processor is also more efficient which means a longer battery life. The users of the Galaxy Watch 6 had a bit of a gripe with the battery life, as daily charging was necessary. The Galaxy Watch 7 can easily go two days on a charge, if you've got the larger variant. The 40mm variant will go a little over 1.5 days on a single charge.
Galaxy Watch 7 review: Health features
There's no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 has come with a few new features. From now on, you'll be able to detect sleep apnea within the new slaap monitor of the Galaxy Watch 7. The Watch 7 seems to be the only smartwatch with this function, apart from the Galaxy Watch Ultra, who's release coincided with the Watch 7.
Another new function of the Galaxy Watch 7 that's shared with the Ultra is the Dual-Frequency GPS module. This ensures a great GPS wherever you go. Whether you're deep in a forest or stuck between some highrise buildings, you can count on good reception.
Measuring blood glucose levels
Before the release of the Galaxy Watch 7 there were rumours that this new smartwatch would be able to measure your blood glucose levels. A perfect health feature for those suffering from diabetes. The function is technically present, but does not provide any accurate measurements at all. At best, it can give an indication that your blood glucose levels are off. This only works when wearing the watch day and night.
Galaxy Watch AI
All the new and existing health features are now gonig to be processed by Galaxy Watch AI. How exactly this is done, is kept a secret by Samsung. It should lead to more accurate data renditions which adjust to your body.
You'll find this AI incorporated into the Wellness Coach for example, which gives suggestions about workouts, activities, and resting. The same AI coach is applied to the sleep monitor, which takes data from your sleep and turns them into tips for better rest.
Galaxy Watch 7 review: Design
The design of the Galaxy Watch 7 remains largely unchanged compared to the Galaxy Watch 6. The case of the smartwatch has remained identical. It's once again available in two sizes: 40mm and 44mm. There is no Classic or Pro variant this year, as Samsung has opted to bring out the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
The Galaxy Watch 7 straps have changed slightly this year. The standard sport strap that's included when you purchase the Galaxy Watch 7 is ribbed and comes in 5 different colours: Gray, cream, green, orange, and dark gray. The watch itself comes in three colours: Silver, green, or cream.
First appearing on the Galaxy Watch 6, the straps for the Galaxy Watch 7 feature the One-Push system making them easy to replace. The size of these straps is 20mm which means it has the same connector as on the Galaxy Watch 4, 5, and 6. The Watch 7 straps can not be used for the Galaxy Watch Ultra, as those have a unique connector.
Galaxy Watch 7 review: Price
The price of the Galaxy Watch 7 has remained the same as last year when the Galaxy Watch 6 launched. Of course, you can find the Galaxy Watch 6 at discounted prices right now, but the price of the Galaxy Watch 7 is the same as the 6 was when it was first released. The price of the Watch 7 depends on what size you're buying and if you want 4G (LTE).
The prices of the Galaxy Watch 7 are as followed:
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 (40mm) standard: £
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 (44mm) standard: £
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 (40mm) LTE: £
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 (44mm) LTE: £
Starting at £ 289 the Galaxy Watch 7 is quite a lot cheaper than the new Galaxy Watch Ultra, which released at the same time. The price of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is £ 599.
Galaxy Watch 7 vs other Android smartwatches
It's hard to argue with the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 is one of the best smartwatches for Android on the market. It's main competitor right now is it's big brother: The Galaxy Watch Ultra. If you're an Android user looking for a good smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 7 is an excellent choice.
Some other strong competitors include Garmin models, and the relatively new Google Pixel Watch 2. The Galaxy Watch 7 is in the top spot right now in terms of health features for the price point. The Google Pixel Watch 3 is expected to release some time this year however. It could possibly beat the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.
In summary
The Galaxy Watch 7 is quite a nice upgrade from the Galaxy Watch 6. This new generation has a better processor which means it feels faster and gains some battery life. In terms of new health features, it can now detect sleep apnea and includes a dual-band GPS module for a perfect signal.
The design has remained largely unchanged since the Galaxy Watch 4, which means you're not sporting the newest or most hip smartwatch. That's where the Galaxy Watch Ultra scores a lot more points. It's not like the design is bad, it's just gotten a bit stale by now.
The mediocre design is not spoiling the rest of the watch however, as the Galaxy Watch 7 is a great smartwatch overall with some great upgrades in comparison to the Galaxy Watch 6.
